Early Rider - The authentic wooden learner bikesAndy Loveland, the founder, decided to start Early Rider when he wanted to get his three-year-old son riding bikes, without training wheels. Disillusioned with the products on offer, he set out to create a bike, which he could admire and his son would love. In 2006 the Early Rider Classic was born, and his son learned to ride.
Early Rider is a British company based in London. Their approach to design, engineering and safety is utterly without compromise. They strive to produce fantastic pre school bikes that take fun, systematic and safe approach to teaching young children to ride. Their ambition is to get every child in the country mobile, without using stabilisers.
They have combined British innovation with West coast style and world leading manufacturing. The result is a range of bikes unlike any others.

Welcome to the range of Early Rider learner bikes. Age isn’t barrier either; the Early Rider Lite is suitable from 18 months up.

More confident riders will appreciate the unrestricted setting – enjoying greater manoeuvrability and developing steering skills. Every detail on the Early Rider is treated to design, build and safety features, which results in a range of bikes that is without compromise, or competitors. Watch your child grow and develop as they discover a whole new world, broadening their horizons and increasing their self-confidence.

GRIMM'S - Games and Wood DesignWhat is it Grimm's stays for?
Our intend is to develop long-lasting toys, whose simple and reduced shape together with its beautiful coloring and inviting surface feel can be used for all ages - Products that want to be touched, again and again and which communicate our credo: Joy through color!

Award - spiel gutWhat is our intention?

  • help children discover and develop their own creativity through simple and reduced shapes -leave room for independent arrangements.
  • create pedagogical valuable toys for kids. Base here is the Waldorf education, whose aspects we try to integrate where possible. In parallel, Montessori education becomes more and more important for our design.
  • Support sensory perception in many different ways
  • create beautiful and decorative designs of wooden products for celebrating annual rituals and holidays.
  • invite adults to get away from it all by offering a possibility to break through the ordinary logical, linear thinking.
  • offer devices to support motor function in occupational therapy and logaoedics
  • bring colour into therapy.

Wood as a material
We use mainly alder, lime, maple and cherry wood. Wood is natural and regenerative and stimulates the senses. It has texture, it is sometimes light, sometimes dark, it is hard or it is soft. It is rough or smooth andsmells good. It sounds different, it is heavy or it is light. It has its own temperature. Bacteria cannot reproduce on wood. If it breaks, it can easily be fixed and it is recyclable. This all is not true for plastic or metal. Most of the products are grinded by hand - that gives a more charming expression compared to machined products.

Colors and oils
All used dyes are water based and in accordance with EN 71 harmless to your health and suitable for children toys. The same is true for the natural oil used.

Honors
Many of our products have been recommended by „ Spiel gut“ ( good toy guide). See references in catalogue.

European Standard EN 71
Safety in terms of toys means a complex subject. For decades, specialist from all areas of toys’ world have intensively made up their minds as to how any endangering of our children by toys can be excluded as far as possible. The result of that work is summarised in the Toys Safety Standard EN71, which has a binding effect on every market participant throughout Europe.

Any toy being offered in Europe for sale needs to conform with this safety regulation. This safety law does not only prescribe what safety properties toys have to be provided with, but it also states in detail the tests that need to be made in order to enable such safety properties to be certified.

Paints & Dyes
One of the most frequently asked questions in relation to wooden toys is that about paints and dyes.
All dyed wooden toys are subjected to a chemical saliva and sweat test. Chemical substances as they are contained in human saliva and sweat, act in a humid oven climate on the dyed wood surface for several hours. In that connection, the dye must not come off to the test stripes when such stripes are drawn away.
If, however, the dyed surface is exposed to mechanical impacts (e.g. gnawing, nibbling, scraping as for instance during teeth growth), then wooden toys cannot be prevented from exhibiting traces caused by such scratching and gnawing, thus releasing dye particles as well. Such release, however, is absolutely harmless, as the dyes applied are subjected to rigorous tests themselves.
For all wooden toy paints pigments are used that, again, clearly remain under the yet very low limit values set forth in the EN71 EUROPEAN STANDARD and that can be described as heavy metal-free. Every production batch is tested at the paint manufacturer itself and certified as an EN71 paint. Such paints are known as toy paints and absolutely harmless to health, even in case of being swallowed.

Holztiger - Wooden animalsHOLZTIGER toys are all handmade. First of all, the contours are stamped out on wooden boards, then the figures are cut out with a saw. A number of different steps follow to smooth off the rough surfaces and edges. The wood is then primed and finish-sanded - a process which results in a particularly smooth and soft surface. Next, the figures are hand-painted with water paints. To make the figures resistant to perspiration and saliva, each figure is subsequently painted - also by hand - with a water lacquer. Once the HOLZTIGER logo is burnt in, the final step is a trip to quality control before the wooden figure is released for its journey to the playroom!

Playing quality
Children learn by touching and identifying the objects around them and by imitating the actions of their elders. Initially, they explore their immediate environs, become acquainted with house pets and farm animals and then go on to discover new and unknown animals in the zoo or local forests. The identification factor of HOLZTIGER toys with these experiences is high, allowing children to relive what they have learnt in real life or nature.

And to make sure that playing and learning also stimulates a child's imagination, the forms of the figures are reduced to the minimum. The result? Timeless and beautifully stylised wooden animals which allow a child's imagination to develop fully while playing and having fun.

Paints and colours
HOLZTIGER paints its figures with water-based acrylic paints (so-called water paints), which are totally non-toxic. The grain of the wood is still visible even after painting, so that the full character of the wood is retained.
In choosing the colours for its wooden figures, HOLZTIGER dipped into all the most colourful pots, because vibrant colours are known to awaken a child's desire for exploration and discovery. The rich colours are complemented by the friendly faces painted onto the wooden figures.

Product safety
HOLZTIGER wooden figures conform with the European Directives for Toys (DIN EN 71). The non-toxic paints and varnishes are furthermore subject to constant quality controls by the state supervisory authorities.
Over and above this, HOLZTIGER makes additional voluntary commitments to quality and safety. For example, every wooden figure has an additional topcoat of satin-finish water paint to make it resistant to perspiration and saliva. A HOLZTIGER whale will even "survive" a short swim in the bathtub without its colours fading!

Made in GermanyQuality
From our beginnings, we have traditionally manufactured the majority of our products in our own factory so that, with the exception of a very few products, all of our products proudly bear the “Made in Germany” mark. We monitor all of our products from the development stage right through to manufacture so that we can offer our customers the best possible guarantee of quality.

During the manufacturing process all components are subject to continuous quality control procedures which is how we are able to guarantee our high quality standards.

Safety
Selecta toys are manufactured in compliance with current European and international standards. Our products are tested in accordance with the European standard for toys, from the earliest development phases through to their introduction to market. Our products are also tested by the T?V Product Service for compliance with European Standard EN71 and are certified with the GS safety mark. Our products are also tested and certified to ensure compliance with US standard ASTM.

Surface finishing
As a natural material, wood can be safely put into a child’s mouth. Selecta only uses environmentally-friendly and totally safe paints and lacquers which comply with EN71 and US safety standard ASTM. We were one of the first manufacturers to provide our products with an additional coating of beeswax, which naturally finishes the surface with a very soft, velvety coating. Using a special transfer printing process, we are able to print colourful illustrations onto the wood itself. This process enables us to produce very bright and brilliant colours, as well as providing a strong scratch-resistant surface which can withstand saliva.

Warning
Selecta is legally obliged to attach warning notices to their products. The purpose of these is to guarantee that the toy is used properly. They also provide additional information about its use and age-based suitability. The intention of the legislature is that this will counteract any risks which could occur by children using the toys incorrectly. We would therefore recommend that you observe these warning notices and retain them for future use.

Award - spiel gutEnvironment
Our objective is to sustain and protect our environment and to this end we have already put in place a number of measures and are continuously working to improve these further. We primarily work with native woods, especially maple and in order to ensure that we do not fell more trees than are re-planted, we support sustainable forestry by working with PEFC/FSC-certified timber companies. We use the woodchips left over from our production processes to meet our company’s entire heating requirement and continuously monitor and improve our production processes to make further energy savings and prevent CO² emissions.

sirch - Pure Design, Crawler and furnitureAward - spiel gutAbout The Company: Sirch has developed in the last thirty years from the craft traditions of coachbuilding to a modern industrial enterprise whose manufacturing processes focus on the production of a range of wooden goods. These include basic packaging goods such as palettes and chests, sports goods such as toboggans, furniture and our range of SIBI wooden toys.

Location: Based in southern Germany's Alpine foothills, the company currently employs a workforce of about fifty on a production site - owned by the company - of around 10,000 square metres. They process about 14,000 cubic metres of wooden raw materials each year. Their space-age production facility was designed in 1999 by the architects Baumschlager & Eberle from the Vorarlberg region. It combines a traditional design concept with radical construction methods and features time and again in the international press.

Product Design: Their design ethos stems from empathy with the elemental, with simplicity and with tradition. This approach governs the work of Wolfgang Sirch and Christoph Bitzer and is unmistakable in the designs they produce together. The great majority of new developments take place in the factory itself using the materials and processes to hand. All Sirch products are of the highest quality and maintain a high commitment to traditional craft techniques.

SIBIs: The product line which came into being in 2000 owes its name to the two designers SIrch and BItzer: their initials forming the basis of this simple but memorable brand name. They rejected the mostly static, practical but ugly, design and construction of most wooden toys currently available They favoured a design concept based on powerful aesthetic principles - the kind of toys that would look good even in the most chic, modern house, beautiful enough to leave out, not tidy away. The two children's ride-ons Max and Flix represented the first moves in this direction, followed by further models in a classic collection including rocking horses, a doll's pushchair, a new take on the traditional baby walker, and a wheelbarrow. The miniature house 'Villa SIBI' was created as the foundation stone in the theme of architectural models for play and would also look good on the boardroom sideboard of any architectural practice.

All goods have been tested for children's use by the German technical safety authority Tüv and the well-respected consumer association 'Spiel-gut' have awarded their recognition to most of the models in the SIBI range.

The People: Wolfgang Sirch and Christoph Bitzer were both born in 1964 and grew up together in Memmingen, Southern Germany. Wolfgang went on to study interior design at the Fachhochschule, Rosenheim and Christoph is an accomplished sculptor. They have been working together in the area of product design since 1994.

Construction toys have always been the ones which make children happier: mounting and dismounting to create always new toys is fun and helps children to grow up.

So we have made HYBO, a line of wooden toys based on a modular play system that with its innovative solutions captures children’s attention and stimulates their sensorial and motor faculties as well their concentration and coordination capabilities.

HYBO is a world to discover!

The Little Experience - Wooden handikraft kitscool, funky, unique, creative things
for children to make and do

Not so long ago, our little company was born to tackle the wishes and worries of a well-intentioned mother of four who was determined to spend more quality ‘shared time’ with her kids. Tai was desperate to show her four media savvy children that there was indeed life beyond high tech toys and the TV remote. Whilst no-one would dispute that today’s whizzy, button-infested toys provide a good helping of convenient, no-fuss fodder for inquisitive minds. We can’t help suspecting that every once in a while it’s important to delve a little deeper in order to provide your kids with a jam-packed treasure trove of fun-filled childhood memories. We passionately believe that there’s nothing like fuelling your child’s imagination, creativity and curiosity with the odd session of sticking, fixing, fastening, mixing, moulding, painting and planting.

design & development
It is company policy that we avoid designs that are already available in other markets. There is, after all, little point in us preaching endlessly about unleashing your child’s
imagination if we aren’t at least prepared to lead by example. The Little Experience die hards are attracted to our toys because they know they will not be able to find
anything like them anywhere else. Nothing makes us glow with pride more than our rather nifty, not to mention distinctive, packaging. Other companies might revel in slick,
computer generated modular packaging, but we remain quietly confident that our homespun illustrations and contemporary look is where we want to be. Our natural,
unbleached cotton canvas bags and recycled paper packaging provides a real willingness by our company to be socially responsible wherever possible.

safety first
Absolutely and unashamedly our top priority! Our entire range is safety certified to the highest European, American and Australian standards.
